Des Moines URW Hall
It was most active from 84 to 86. Located on Des Moines' North side behind the QT across from the Firestone Plant. there were a number of shows there in the mid to late 80s including the Leaving Trains. A number of promoters used this hall over the years. I believe the last show that they allowed there was in June of 88. Though I believe that there was recently(2006) a show there.

"Also, we used to put on shows at the URW Hall up at the north edge of DM by the Firestone plant, right off I-35. That must have been 84-85 and I could swear I remember seeing you at some of those. The sound was crap because it was this huge empty cement block room with a high ceiling. Bands hated playing there which is what lead to Beth and I finding the Unitarian Church the next year. After one of the shows (where the bands had to help clean up) Eric Creech had said, “What we need is some kind of a cave with a cement floor where we can just hose down the blood and spit after every show.” I think the next show was at the Unitarian Church and he said, “This wasn’t really what I had in mind.” "
