First was located on the west side of the SW 9th at 3110 until they remolded an old gas station and opened across the street at 3001. If memory stand correct Jerry started selling parts out of his house and at local BMX races until opening a store front. He was active in the BMX and Skateboarding scene through his children and was a huge supporter of the local races and the skateboarding when it was still very underground in Des Moines.
Darren Stout had a small Skateboard shop that he ran out of his house and it was suggested that they combine efforts. Soon SSS was one of few places in Des Moines where you could find high end BMX or Skateboards. It was not uncommon to find a number of Skaters, BMXers and Kids hanging out there. In a city where there was very few things for kids to do, they were open to them just hanging out.
They were also active involved in fighting the city's ban on Skateboarding and even help to get the city to agree to build a ramp. Of course 25 years later we are still waiting on them to build that ramp.
