"Also, I wanted to give you some additional info on the Swinging Teens who I saw countless times until they relocated to Minneapolis in January 1988. (though I did catch a few of their Chicago shows in 1989) I also knew these guys and had friends who had lived with various members. Andy Kaufman was one of the founding members and the guitarist for the band. He later quit the band around 1990 in Minneapolis, as did Danny Davis who went onto drum for a band on SST Records, Run Westy Run. The lead singer was John Rater, at least that's the name he went by when I knew him. Rater is the correct spelling, no article or record ever got his name right. Later, I think some record companies accidentally or perhaps John did encourage the change, he was listed as Johnny Random, I think he was trying to go for a more Ramones like stage name. This brings me to another correction, the Swinging Teens were not rockabilly though John did like the Cramps and he sort of resembled Lux Interior physically. Their sound was more of a amalgam of heavy metal and punk rock. They did cover some Cramps tunes but I would never characterize them as rockabilly. Andy was an amazing guitarist, a punk Hendrix playing with his mouth and behind his head. John and Andy were the core members (who did the writing) of the band while there were several changes in bassists and drummers until they settled on Davis and Matt Panschar. "
